Commencing Musical Sketches
Not quite a complete song, more worked out than an improvisation, and closer to a cue for a soundtrack. Little exercises to file away or keep on hand for further development.
Yesterday, Teacher tasked us to create 8-16 measures using a period or a sentence. A period is simply two phrases that contain much of the same melodic and rhythmic material with slight contrasts in their ending cadences. A sentence is similar, but may continue after the phrases into a longer statement.
This sketch attempts a couple periods for a plucked bass and flute organ that cycle together.
Some choking lead guitars or dissonant chords might be nice to add to it someday.

…hmmm, saw a 100+ orchestra use them last Wednesday. A 40+ piece orchestra use them in a recording session on Monday….
Key Signatures stopped being used about 100 years ago….
Nice….wanted it to keep going….somewhere I haven’t been before….
I wasn’t going to comment today but I just had to. This reminds me of a soundtrack to a video game. Right when you might enter a spooky forest or come to an epic part of the story. Very interesting. Can’t wait to hear more compositions like this.
